My Name is Aisha, and This is My Story
I still remember the day I first laid my hands on a computer. It was an old desktop at my uncle’s shop, and I was mesmerized by how a few keystrokes could bring up a world of information. But in my small town, technology wasn’t seen as a path for women. “ICT is for men,” they said. I refused to believe that.
The Turning Point
My dream of working in tech seemed impossible—until I found FuntechNG
ICT Academy. The moment I stepped into the academy, I knew my life was
about to change. The instructors didn’t just teach theory; they gave me
hands-on experience in networking, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
At first, I doubted myself. Could I really learn to
configure networks, secure cloud infrastructures, and protect systems from
cyber threats? But with every challenge I overcame, my confidence grew.
The Moment I Knew I Made It
Eight months in, I earned my AWS Solutions Architect and Microsoft Azure Security certifications. That was the moment I knew—I belonged in tech. Soon after, I landed an internship at a top cybersecurity firm. I was the only woman on my team, but that didn’t stop me. I worked twice as hard, securing cloud environments and preventing cyberattacks.
Where I Am Now
Today, I’m a Lead Cloud Security Engineer, protecting
businesses from cyber threats. I also mentor young women who, like me, once
doubted their place in tech.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: Your background does not define your future. ICT gave me a life I never imagined, and I want more women to realize that they, too, can thrive in tech.
